I’ve always been intrigued by the Texas Rangers lawmen and one day a vision started coming together for a western-style custom bike. The Texas Rangers are known world-wide for their no-nonsense attitude and that’s the way I wanted the bike to be portrayed. They were the inspiration for the limited edition custom series. After obtaining the licensing privileges from the Texas Ranger museum in Waco, I spent many hours, that turned into days and weeks, researching custom bike builders. Mike Phillips’ Grandeur Cycles stood out from the rest. Grandeur Cycles has been featured on the Speed Channel’s V-Twin television show, as well as numerous bike magazine covers and publications world-wide. Mike immediately grasped the concept for the bike and together we came up with the design for the Texas Ranger series. Our goal was to produce a bike befitting the Texas Ranger name, one that was functional and styled to make any collector/rider proud to own. This bike exudes rugged sophistication and with special features like the award-winning Grandeur Super Auto Clutch and Total Performance 121 cubic inch motor, as well as the popular Baker right-side drive transmission, it undoubtably rides as good as it looks.
We realized that we had accomplished our goals when articles about the Texas Ranger bike graced the pages of Robb Report Motorcycling (August/September 2007 issue) and V-Twin (July 2007 issue) magazines. Further validation came with winning the first people’s choice contest the bike was entered in at the 2006 South Padre Island Bikefest Biker Build-Off. I’ll never forget walking into the convention center and seeing the competition - bikes illuminated by fancy lighting systems and rotating displays. Being it’s first competition, we walked in with nothing more than our polishing rags and the bike. Obviously, that was enough.
This bike is not for the shy or faint of heart. With 130 horsepower at the rear wheel it will run with the best of thoroughbreds. As for the shy, well, be prepared to attract a lot of attention. The Texas Ranger bike will command more attention and respect than an American Express “black” card.
